Fans Heartbroken as Alan Jackson Shares Tough News

It’s the kind of announcement no country music fan ever wants to hear: legendary artist Alan Jackson is officially stepping away from the stage. For decades, he’s been a constant force in the genre — the voice behind countless No. 1 hits and the soundtrack to millions of lives. But now, his final curtain call has been set.

The reason is a difficult and deeply personal one. Jackson has reached a point where touring is no longer possible due to a long-standing health battle. This isn’t simply a retirement — it’s a necessary step for a man who can no longer perform the way he feels his fans deserve.

For more than ten years, Alan Jackson has been quietly living with Charcot-Marie-Tooth disease (CMT), a degenerative nerve disorder. He publicly revealed the diagnosis in 2021, but its effects have gradually become more challenging. CMT damages the nerves in the arms and legs. While it isn’t fatal and doesn’t shorten life expectancy, it severely affects balance, stability, and mobility — major obstacles for someone who has spent his life commanding a stage.

Jackson has been honest about the struggle, saying it has become “more and more obvious.” He admitted, “I know I’m stumbling around on stage, and now I’m having trouble balancing even in front of the microphone. I just feel very, very uncomfortable.”

Earlier this year, Jackson wrapped up his farewell tour, with the final show taking place on May 17 in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. He told fans that night it was “my last road show of my career,” but promised he wasn’t completely finished. He planned one final, monumental show to close out his touring career the right way.

Now the details are official: Alan Jackson’s last full-length concert will take place on June 27, 2026, at Nashville’s Nissan Stadium — a historic finale in the heart of Music City. It will be fans’ final opportunity to see him perform a complete set.

Even though his touring days are ending, Jackson has made it clear he’s not stepping away from music itself. He still plans to write and record. On his daughter’s podcast, he shared that the creative spark is still alive: “I’m always scribbling down ideas and thinking about melodies. I feel like there will be more music to come.”

So, while this marks the end of an era on the road, it’s a decision made for his health and family — and one that will conclude with a legendary night in Nashville next June.
